According to a proposal announced recently, Google would not be able to remove user-tracking technology that is vital to advertisers from its Chrome browser without the approval of Britain’s competition regulator.

The company expressed its appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the regulator on its initiative to address privacy and competition concerns.

In January, the Competition and Markets Authority began looking into Google’s proposal to remove support for some cookies from Chrome as early as next year.
