US Judge says LinkedIn Must Face Lawsuit for Overcharging Advertisers

A US judge said LinkedIn must face a lawsuit alleging that the networking platform overstated the number of individuals who watched video ads, allowing it to overcharge thousands of advertisers.

However, US Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen dismissed unfair competition and fraud-based claims, stating that the plaintiff advertisers failed to establish that LinkedIn committed specific misrepresentations or that its actions harmed the general public.

LinkedIn said in an email that it was “committed to the transparency and integrity of our ads products” and that it looked forward to proving the claims were false.
