Twitter is set to roll out DM updates this month, including full encryption

Twitter plans to roll out full message encryption this month, along with the ability to reply to individual DMs in a chain and use any emoji as a response instead of the seven presets.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk outlined a new timeframe for DM updates over the weekend, confirming previous reports about the development of Twitter’s DM capabilities. The biggest update is encrypted DMs, which would bring Twitter more in line with Meta and other messaging apps while providing more privacy for users.

No one but the chat participants will be able to view the content of these discussions, which provides more security and privacy, but could also enable criminal activity, as encryption cannot be bypassed by government or judicial authorities.
