Facebook Bug Marking Legitimate COVID-19 Posts as Spam

Facebook announced that a bug is erroneously marking legitimate coronavirus posts as spam. This has reflected on the COVID-19 posts on its flagship app as well as its photo-sharing platform, Instagram.

Guy Rosen, Facebook VP for integrity, mentioned in a Twitter post – “This is a bug in an anti-spam system, unrelated to any change in our content moderator workforce… We’ve restored all the posts that were incorrectly removed, which included posts on all topics – not just those related to COVID-19. This was an issue with an automated system that removes links to abusive websites, but incorrectly removed a lot of other posts too,”
