Snapchat introduces AI chatbot powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT

Snap Inc. has disclosed that it intends to join the artificial intelligence (AI) craze by integrating “My AI,” a chatbot that uses OpenAI LLC’s ChatGPT, into its multimedia instant messaging app Snapchat.

Users will be able to speak to the AI for recommendations about birthday gift ideas, event plans, dinner recipes, and more, the company said in an announcement about the new service. That’s an admission that ChatGPT-based AI chatbots can act oddly, as demonstrated by Microsoft Corp.’s new Bing AI chatbot, which has the ability to completely veer off course during conversations.

Even with these problems, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel is optimistic about the future of artificial intelligence and told The Verge that he believed that integrating it into the instant messaging app would mark the next development in how humans and AI interact.
