Google slapped with a second advertising lawsuit by publishers

Google is being sued for £3.4bn in compensation by online publishers, who accuse the tech giant of illegally using its dominant position in online advertising to limit the amount of revenue publishers earn from their own display inventory.

Charles Arthur, a former technology editor for the Guardian, is bringing the lawsuit. The lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday, asserts that Google has abused its position by raising the cost of ad technology services and decreasing publisher ad sales revenues.

The platform’s hegemony in ad tech is currently being looked into by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
