Threads launches in the E.U. after overcoming legal obstacles

Threads

The Meta Platforms Inc.-owned Threads has just been made available to the 448 million residents of the European Union, following its launch in more than 100 countries, including the U.S. and the U.K. This could further compound the problems facing its faltering rival, X Corp.

Although Threads has only been around for about six months, its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, appeared quite happy with the response from the public to what was initially referred to as an alternative to X, formerly Twitter, not long after the platform’s launch.

The reason the remaining X users stick with X might be that they like X, and in spite of the backlash, a lot of people think that X might receive more government attention following the Twitter Files controversy. It will be interesting to watch how, in 2024, this war for social media users plays out.
