Meta Platforms Inc.’s Facebook AI Applied Research team has created a new foundational large language model known as Large Language Model Meta AI, or LLaMA. The company says the aim of the new offering is to assist the scientific community in advancing its research into a branch of artificial intelligence known as deep learning.
The chief executive officer of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, stated on Facebook and Instagram that “LLMs have shown a lot of promise in generating text, having conversations, summarizing written material, and more difficult tasks like solving math theorems or predicting protein structures.” We’ll make our new model available to the AI research community because Meta is dedicated to this open model of research.
According to Meta, LLaMA democratizes access to LLMs, which are regarded as one of the most significant and useful types of AI.
