Meta Platforms Inc. announced that it is open-sourcing an artificial intelligence-based animation tool that can be utilized by anyone to bring their drawings or photographs to life. Meta hopes that by making Animated Drawings open source, other programmers will be able to expand on it and produce more in-depth experiences.
In 2021, the service made its online debut as a free tool. It was developed by the Fundamental AI Research team at Meta, and it requests that users upload images or drawings of human-like characters or select one from a demo figure. In order to upload their own image, users must first consent to Meta using that image to train its AI models.
Additionally, Meta reported receiving numerous requests from users for more sophisticated tools, such as the capacity to include sound effects and text overlays.
