Meta announces a verification service akin to Twitter Blue for USD 11.99 per month

In what appears to be the company’s response to Twitter Inc.’s Twitter Blue, Meta Platforms Inc. plans to introduce a new paid subscription program that will enable users of Meta’s services to verify their accounts and obtain other services.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta Verified on Facebook, which enables users to verify their accounts with a government ID and receive a blue verification badge. Additionally, Meta Verified subscribers have direct access to customer support and additional impersonation protection against fake accounts.

Additional information was provided by the Facebook newsroom, including the fact that subscribers were also given more prominence in some areas of the platform, including search, comments, and recommendations. Additionally, it is claimed that subscribers have access to “exclusive features” that allow them to express themselves in “unique ways,” though the specifics of these features are not specified.
