For selected Pinterest ad partners, Pinterest has announced a new partnership with LiveRamp to implement data “clean rooms,” which will allow brands to use their first-party data for ad targeting without having to re-share that information with Pinterest.

Clean Rooms make sure that user-level information is never directly shared between parties, which helps to manage the data upload and encryption process. In essence, the procedure enables companies to display their ads to individuals who already have a relationship with both the company and the ad hosting site.

The Pinterest integration with LiveRamp, according to the company, “provides a protected, third-party space where brands can join their first-party data and Pinterest platform data in a secure environment.”
