Instagram Announces Four Steps to Point Out Racial Inequality

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has outlined four steps the platform will take to improve racial representation and equality on its platform. Harassment, account verification, distribution, and algorithmic bias are the four points through which Instagram will look to address any potential gaps in its policies which are allowing different groups to experience harassment and abuse.

The Facebook-owned app will also re-assess its verification process to ensure that there is no endemic bias in how verification is allocated and approved. In addition, the platform will review its content policies to make sure there are no inherent biases in the selection of content chosen for its Explore and Hashtag pages.
