Google, Meta, Microsoft, Twitter Among 19 Companies Face Stringent EU Online Content Rules

Five Alphabet affiliates, Meta platforms, Microsoft businesses, Twitter, and Alibaba’s business are among 19 companies facing stringent EU online content rules, EU industry chief Thierry Breton said on Tuesday. The companies must conduct external and independent auditing, share data and adopt a code of conduct under the Digital Services Act (DSA) by August. The companies will also be required to manage disinformation and provide more protection to users, ensure stronger protection for children about the content, or may face fines of 6% of their global revenue.
