Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has proposed steps to reform a key internet law, stating companies should get immunity from liability only if they follow best practices for removing damaging content from their platforms.

In testimony prepared for a joint hearing before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Zuckerberg acknowledged the calls from lawmakers for changes to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act that provides immunity from liability to companies over content posted by users.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai will also make suggestions to reform the law but will not advocate for the adoption of a set of best practices, as per his testimony.
