ByteDance, owner of popular video-sharing platform TikTok, hires Xiaomi executive Shou Zi Chew as its new Chief Finance Officer. ByteDance’s creation of the CFO role signals that the tech company is moving towards a much-anticipated initial public offering.
The company has been considering whether to go for a standalone public listing for the Chinese version of TikTok – Douyin or list some of its Chinese operations, including news aggregator Jinri Toutiao and Douyin, as a package in Shanghai or Hong Kong.
