Facebook introduces Link History, a new tool for monitoring users’ browsing behaviors

Facebook

Facebook, owned by Meta Platforms Inc., has started to archive certain user link histories on iOS and Android smartphones.

The company is promoting this feature as a better way for users to manage the different websites that appear in their news feeds. The Link History feature is supposedly activated by default, even though users have the option to turn it off. The true winner, however, is apparently Meta, which uses the browsing data it gathers to target ads more precisely.

For a period of 30 days, Link History is said to keep track of every link a user clicks. On the other hand, link histories for users accessing Facebook on personal computers will not be preserved.
