As the project advances to the next phase, Meta wants to emphasize the risks associated with unencrypted messaging services like SMS. To emphasize this, WhatsApp has also begun a massive new activation in London.
However, the plan has faced opposition from a number of government and business organizations, with the UK Government fighting particularly hard to block Meta’s encryption roll-out.
