As more people use Threads content in its Twitter clone app, Meta is extending its fact-checking program to include content from the platform, in light of the impending 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and numerous other upcoming polls around the globe.
According to Meta: “False content on Threads will be subject to review and rating by our third-party fact-checking partners starting early next year. At the moment, we apply a fact-checker’s rating to nearly identical content on Threads when they flag it as false on Facebook or Instagram, but fact-checkers are unable to rate Threads content independently.”
Furthermore, users of Threads will soon have more control over the amount of sensitive content they are exposed to within the app.
