Meta has announced that it will contribute another USD 150 million to the Oversight Board Trust, enabling it to continue hearing cases, and helping to shape Meta’s policy approach.
According to the statement, “Under the rules of the Trust, the contributions made by the Company are irrevocable and may only be used to carry out the objective of the Trust, which is to manage and fund the Oversight Board’s operations. In addition to the company’s initial USD 130 million donation to the Trust, which was disclosed in 2019, this USD 150 million investment is being made to it.
An additional channel for more complicated issues is provided by the Oversight Board, an impartial panel of professionals to which Meta and its users can refer appeals over platform and content decisions.
