EU Antitrust Regulators Extends Deadline for Decision on Facebook’s Acquisition

According to a European Commission file released on Monday, the deadline for a decision on Facebook’s acquisition of US customer care startup Kustomer has been extended by a week to December 15.

The EU commission, which acts as the bloc’s competition enforcer, launched a full-scale probe into the agreement earlier this month, claiming that it might harm competition and strengthen Facebook’s power in online advertising.

Facebook has stated that it will fully assist with the Commission’s review.

The Commission said it extended the deadline after the social media company asked for more time. These extensions are typical during the summer vacation season, when it is more difficult to identify customers and competitors who can answer market queries.
