Elon Musk’s USD 8 blue ticks for all ‘verification’ program, his first major user-facing initiative since gaining control of the app, has caused a wide range of problems, including rampant impersonation, internal confusion over how to enforce the platform’s rules, potential legal concerns, and even stock market impacts for some impersonated businesses.

To combat impersonation, Twitter also added a new “verified” checkmark, took it away, and then added it back. Which is fairly representative of the app’s current state. With a few changes, Elon has now set a new date for the re-launch of his USD 8 checkmarks program: November 29.

In the first few days it was available, 140,000 Twitter users reportedly signed up for the program, surpassing the 100,000 users who did so for Twitter Blue, the platform’s original subscription offering.
