According to Capterra’s 2023 Social Media Landscape Survey, 80% of marketers using X, formerly known as Twitter, or Instagram said they are likely to try Meta’s Threads despite ultimately believing that the service contributes to channel fragmentation.
Additionally, 66% think that Threads will reduce the marketing potential of Facebook and Instagram, which Meta also owns. Marketers indicated that they need to see a definite return on investment before including new platforms like Threads in their budgets, with 70% saying they won’t invest in an alternative to X unless there are “excellent benefits.”
Following Elon Musk’s contentious takeover of Twitter, which was rebranded to X earlier this summer, new wagers within the social media landscape have been made. Following Twitter’s acquisition last year, 69% of marketers say their company has set up an account on at least one emerging platform.
