YouTube Is Testing Its Product Tags to Move Towards E-commerce

To everyone’s surprise, Google is planning to make YouTube support sales of products! It is testing its new process on selected creators. This will enable the video creators to tag products that are displayed in the video clips.

It will eventually lead to direct shopping options in the platform – shifting toward the e-commerce sector. The company is asking the creator to tag and track products in order to convert videos to items’ catalog for viewers to pursue.

Earlier, it introduced “merch alerts” in live-streams to create awareness for products. Besides, YouTube is doing a trial for new integration with Shopify – for marketing items via the platform.
