YouTube has announced an update to its Advertiser Friendly Guidelines, which dictate which content may be monetized within the app.

Since YouTube can immediately exclude creators from monetization opportunities if a video violates the rules, creators have frequently voiced their frustration with the regulations on this front and the various changes in policy and approach. The rules essentially cover unlawful and offensive content, but YouTube is updating specific parts of the rules.

According to YouTube, impersonating a retail store employee without the owner’s consent will now also result in demonetization. The use of hacking software in competitive e-sports is now prohibited, making cheating in video games another aspect of this category.
