YouTube has revealed the next step of its expanding emphasis on short-form content, with a new ‘Shorts Fund’ that will see YouTube pay out $100 million to top Shorts creators to provide additional funding and inspiration for their efforts. Recently, YouTube had announced the extension of its TikTok-like ‘Shorts’ option to all US users.

Since Shorts is a new way to watch and create on YouTube, the brand has been rethinking how to monetize and reward creators for their work, according to the company. They are launching the YouTube Shorts Project, a $100 million fund that will be spread over the years 2021-2022.
