US States Rally around Proposed Antitrust Laws to Rein in Big Tech Companies

A bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general in the United States addressed a letter to lawmakers urging them to pass a series of antitrust bills aimed at Big Tech corporations such as Facebook and Alphabet’s Google.

The letter, which was submitted to leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives, stated clear support for six bills that were passed by the House Judiciary Committee in June. Four of the bills directly address the platform capabilities of Big Tech, while two others empower enforcers.

If passed, one bill would ensure that antitrust cases initiated by state attorneys general are heard in the court of their choice, which is often preferred by plaintiffs.
