Twitter to Begin Removing Legacy Blue Checkmarks from April 1

Twitter will begin removing legacy blue checkmarks from user accounts next week. It is now working toward a model allowing only paid subscribers and members to have the status after approvals.

The San Francisco-based company tweeted, “the move begins from April 1,” on Thursday. Owner Elon Musk announced the policy changes and described the old verification system as “corrupt.” The blue verification symbol has become a key component of Twitter’s Twitter Blue membership service; which Musk began pricing at US$8 per month.
