Twitter terminates its experiment with collaborative tweets

Twitter’s brief experiment with “Co-Tweets” has ended, with the platform announcing an immediate end to the feature.

Co-Tweets, which were introduced for live testing in July of last year and offered new opportunities for cross-promotional partnerships, allowed users to work together on a single tweet with another user. CoTweets will no longer be possible to create starting on Tuesday, January 31. Existing CoTweets will remain viewable for another month before switching back to Retweets.

The concept was largely inspired by TikTok, where Duets have gained popularity as a content format and have led to the addition of related functionality on both Facebook and Instagram. Co-Tweets were Twitter’s equivalent of the same; however, they won’t be supported any longer due to the app’s ongoing reorganization.
