Twitter is experimenting with new control features over who can @mention someone within the platform. This could help users to avoid unwanted attention – while they limit negative experiences in the social media app.
As outlined by Dominic Camozzi from Twitter, the platform is working on some new variations for mention controls – beginning with the prototype for ‘unmentioning’ from a tweet chain.
This initiative with the option “Unmention yourself from this conversation” will people to get away from spammers, incorrect tags, former friends/colleagues, etc. It is similar to the available option for images that allows to “Remove tag from photo”.
