Twitter is currently working on new messages that will be appended to tweets that have been edited after being embedded on a third-party site.

With the new update, Twitter appears to have overcome the issue that allowing users to edit tweets could result in negative misinterpretations in the case of edits that change the original meaning. Twitter claims that because tweets are so brief, even the smallest edit could significantly change the context of the original message.  Twitter was hesitant to introduce “edit tweets” as a result. Twitter’s new update aims to provide pertinent context to prevent misunderstandings, at least in tweet embeds.
