Twitter has begun an initial live test of its new ‘Status’ feature with some users in Australia and the US. Users can add one of several prewritten labels to a tweet using the new feature called Status Tweets.

According to a statement released by Twitter on Thursday, the functionality “allows users to add a status topic from a specified list to the tweets to provide more context for the followers.” Twitter declined to disclose on the size of the group, but it did clarify that this test is being conducted for a brief period with a select group in the United States and Australia.

The feature functions similarly to Facebook’s “is feeling” feature in that the chosen status and any accompanying emoji are shown above the original tweet.
