Twitter recently began a global test of a service called Communities, which is similar to Facebook Groups and allows users to tweet to people who share similar interests.
Twitter stated in a blog post that certain users will be able to build Communities and that more will be added in the coming months. The number of users who can start Communities in the test has not been disclosed, however, any user can join a group if invited.
In recent months, the social media platform has pushed out a slew of new services, including subscription-based “super followers” and live audio chat rooms, in an attempt to shake off years of lethargy.
