Within its reply threads of tweets, Twitter is aiming to expand its ad inventory by providing users with a new placement option. At present, the new ad format is still in the testing phase, meaning only a certain number of users will be able to view the promoted tweets.
This new option has the capability to facilitate monetization of tweets, with the tweet creator has the option to opt-in to these ads and then get a cut of the resulting revenue.
Twitter has stated that the test is in the initial phases will need to first try out different layouts, frequencies, and ‘contextually relevant placements’ in the coming months.
