Twilio, a cloud communications company, has announced plans to purchase Zipwhip, a toll-free messaging provider, for US$850 million in cash and stock.
When the deal is completed, Zipwhip, which enables companies to send text messages to consumers via their landline or toll-free numbers, will become part of Twilio’s messaging business unit. The Zipwhip deal is expected to close by the end of 2021.
