For the very first time, Twitter has used its new “manipulated media” tag on Sunday – on a video post of Joe Biden, the U.S Presidential candidate that President Donald Trump retweeted. The social media giant implemented the new policy that will labels tweets with manipulated or synthetic media and edited clips, effective March 5, 2020.

The social media platforms are already under pressure to flag misleading information ahead of the US election. White House posted a clip showing Biden’s speech at Missouri as, “Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump.”

While part of Biden’s statement was cut off by the clip, it was, “Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. It’s gotta be a positive campaign so join us.”
