TikTok is looking at the next stage of its e-commerce push with a new live-stream partnership with Walmart.
The new deal with Walmart will see the retailer showcase buyable products during a TikTok live-stream, a first of its kind for the platform. This is a significant step for the social media giant, which has been experimenting with e-commerce, over the past year.
When the products are displayed, pop-up pins will direct customers to tap on them, thereby adding the specified item to their shopping cart. Users will then be guided to a mobile checkout experience, streamlining the shopping process.
The platform’s first significant experiment on this front was seen last November, with social commerce URLs displayed in selected videos.
