TikTok, the Chinese-owned app, confirmed that short-video sharing touched 150 million monthly users in the United States from 100 million in 2020. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew’s testimony confirmed it on Thursday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
On Friday, Bipartisan legislation gave President Joe Biden new authority to ban TikTok on national security grounds in support of six more U.S. senators. TikTok said Biden demanded Chinese owners deny their stake in apps or face a U.S. ban.
