As part of its ongoing effort to show US regulators that it is fully transparent and fully willing to work with them on compromises to remain operational in the region, TikTok has announced that it will now allow more researchers to access and analyze its dataset.
The company said the initiative to provide more information about how the platform works. According to TikTok, “TikTok is expanding access to its research API to US researchers affiliated with non-profit academic institutions.”
The expanded access will allow more research teams to tap into TikTok usage data, which could help highlight the potentially harmful effects of recommendations based on the app’s AI detection.
