Threads introduces new capabilities as it seeks to capitalize on early interest

In an effort to capitalize on its early popularity, Meta’s Twitter clone has released yet another round of updates that add to its already extensive feature set.

Users can now share a Thread directly to the Instagram DMs using the new “Send on Instagram” option that has been added to Threads. With Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri pointing out that users now share a lot more content via DM than they do in feed posts or Stories, this speaks to the growing use of DMs as a connective option.

With the addition of reel links, Threads has also made progress toward integrating ActivityPub, which will eventually allow users to validate their identities on other platforms that support fediverse protocols.
