According to the TASS news agency, Russia is seeking an extra 24 million roubles (US$321,586) in fines from Twitter for failing to delete content banned in Russia.
Last week, state communications regulator Roskomnadzor said Twitter was complying with a request to delete banned content, but it was taking too long. The service will be slowed until May 15 as a result of the penalty.
According to TASS, six complaints concerning Twitter have been filed with a Moscow court under Russia’s Administrative Offences Code, each carrying a potential fine of up to 4 million roubles for failure to delete content.
