Facebook has continuously launched features to boost users’ logging and on-platform engagement. The number of users in the “meaningful groups” category has increased during the lockdown period. Users were apprehensive about Facebook groups as the platform allowed concealment of some controversial discussions in the app from public view.

The social media platform had allowed discussion of controversial topics in the private groups instead of eliminating the forum or posts. Given the potential hazard, the platform has announced new restrictions and policies that violate the Community standards even in the private groups. Some of the measures include complete removal of all anarchist and militia groups from Newsfeed, reduced search results, and occurrence in News Feed.
