Meta to Restrict Ad Data Usage to Address UK Competition Concerns

Meta had raised a concern about limiting its use of other businesses’ advertising data for its Facebook Marketplace services to address the regulator’s competition concerns. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said advertisers could opt out of allowing their data to be used to improve the Facebook Marketplace ads platform. Reducing the risk of Meta exploiting businesses’ data advertising on its platform for its competitive advantage could help many UK businesses advertise on the same platform.
