Android users are already receiving notifications from Meta that the Messenger Lite app will soon be discontinued entirely. Users of Messenger Lite on Android are currently noticing a new pop-up message in the app informing them that it will be sunset as of September 18th, as was first reported by 9 to 5 Google.
Given the development of connective networks, Meta no longer sees the benefit of continuing to support the standalone Messenger Lite app, which was created for users with small devices and poor connectivity and connects them to the larger Meta network.
