Meta is terminating Move, an experimental social app developed by its NPE Team incubator

Meta is terminating yet another project from its internal R&D division, the NPE Team, as a result of the massive layoffs announced in November, which affected 13% of its workforce.

The social to-do list app called Move, which was released last spring and allowed users to earn points for crossing off items on either their personal or group to-do lists, is the most recent experiment to be shut down. These points can then be used to add accessories like hats, clothing, sunglasses, and more to an alpaca avatar. Move’s larger goal was to promote group participation by allowing users to identify which team members were the most productive based on the number of accessories they had collected for their alpaca.

Despite the lighthearted tone of the app and its potential to make to-do lists more engaging, the developer quietly announced the app would be shutting down in March.
