Meta Introduces ActivityPub for the First Phase of Threads Interoperability

Meta is proceeding with its plans to make Threads interoperable through decentralized protocol, which will allow other fediverse-based apps to access Threads profiles and content in the near future.

In order to integrate Threads into the fediverse idea, Meta is currently testing a new procedure that will allow Threads content to be viewed on Mastodon and other ActivityPub-based systems, as stated by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The fediverse is an interconnected network of thousands, if not millions, of separate, “federated” servers that cooperate to enable a novel mode of public social media access.
