Meta Considering New Subscription Options for EU Users to Eliminate In-Stream Ads

Although Mark Zuckerberg has consistently insisted that Facebook will remain a free service as E.U. regulations change and possibly further limit the company’s ability to collect user data for ad targeting, perhaps it is now time for Meta to re-evaluate that fundamental idea.

That is reportedly currently in play, with Meta reportedly considering the possibility of offering paid versions of both Facebook and Instagram, allowing EU users to completely avoid ads and the use of their personal data in both apps.

According to the rumored plan, Facebook and Instagram would continue to be free, but users could choose to pay for an ad-free subscription if they wished.
