Instagram has recently announced that it has released a significant e-commerce feature that will allow the black-owned brands with the option to add a label. This initiative will help signify diversity as the opportunities for discoverability will improve considerably.
Brands will need to add the “Black-Owned” label to the profile, and the platform will highlight business profiles in the Shop tab. According to Instagram, currently, more than 1.3 million posts are supporting “Black-led” or “Black-owned” businesses and US-based companies saw a surge of 50% engagement.
After the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, the social media platform is trying to show support while making similar businesses discovery easier.
