Instagram Tests New Ad Options, Including Explore Positioning and Interactive AR Displays

Instagram is adding new ads into Explore, with the first page of Explore now set to feature a new ad unit in the content feed.

Although Instagram hasn’t said whether all of the new Explore ads will be displayed in such a prominent manner as this one, the choice will give advertisers access to IG users “as they are just beginning to discover new content.” Instagram is also experimenting with ads in profile feed, which is the section of the app that users can access after visiting the profile of another account and tapping on a post.

As this activity will be connected to a specific profile and piece of content, the social media platform is also investigating whether it might be used as a way for creators to make money. The company is also experimenting with “Multi-Advertiser Ads,” which will show users additional advertisements from businesses that are similar to the one they have just engaged with.
