Instagram Introduces Steps to Combat Digital Abuse via DMs

Instagram has recently announced that it is leveling up its efforts to guard users against online abuse and bullying via DMs. It plans to put stricter enforcement for those users who repeatedly violate the platform rules and policies. Simply put, it is an expansion of the feature to turn off DMs for selected users.

As mentioned by Instagram, “We want Instagram to be a place for people to connect with the people and things they love. But we also know that, just like in the offline world, there will always be those who abuse others.”

The platform took this initiative after the recent racist online abuse behavior targeted at football players in the UK – and such activities are not desirable, noted the company.
