Instagram Introduces New Map Search Tool to Optimize Local Businesses

In Australia and New Zealand, Instagram has started a live test of a new tool called ‘Map Search,’ which allows users to discover companies and locations of interest on the in-app map, read the information on each listed business, and submit public posts tagged with that location. 

It’s an interesting inclusion, as it establishes a more direct link between Instagram and businesses, which is something Instagram is increasingly emphasizing with tools like in-stream shops and additional promotion opportunities. According to Instagram, more than 200 million businesses utilize the platform each month, and 90% of users follow at least one business.
